Morgan Cayes Gama-Lobo was born on a Tuesday, November 25, 2008 - 8lbs, 2oz and 19 inches long.
Morgan is named for Port Morgan, where Mike and Mara were married on Ile a Vache, Haiti. Port Morgan is in turn named for the pirate/buccaneer Captain Morgan, whose ship sank somewhere around the shores of Ile a Vache. On the weekend of our wedding, professional treasure seekers were searching for the lost treasure of Captain Morgan.
Cayes comes from the town of Les Cayes, Haiti, the area where Mike and Mara met and lived for five years.
Morgan has brown hair and cobalt eyes (which we expect will change to brown over time). He has a sweet disposition, likes to make chirping and grunting noises, and has a right big toe that he bends almost all the way back when he stretches!
Mike had to return temporarily to Tanzania for two weeks, but is coming back to Seattle for Christmas and New Years Eve. Mara remains in Seattle with her mother Gini and the Gama-Lobos. All three "Ms" (Morgan, Mike and Mara, or Mcubed) will go home to Tanzania together in January.
